The mettle of front line personnel is constantly tested when dealing with the public and it is here that we discover whether an employee is one who pours water on the flames of human conflict or petrol!
It is unfair to expect front line staff to do their work without equipping them with effective skills. It is true that many professionals have eventually learned to handle people over time, by being moulded into shape through trial and error. However, this usually includes being criticised, insulted and even physically assaulted by members of the public; reprimanded and disciplined by supervisors and possibly rebuked by journalists or even lawyers as well as magistrates.
Without the necessary confidence to deal with the public, staff members will sometimes deliberately avoid certain duties to prevent embarrassment to themselves and even turn a blind eye to certain activities or behaviour because they do not have the basic inter-personal skills with which to confront the problem!
Much of this hardship and potential bad media publicity can be avoided with a short effective training programme in Tactical Communication. Originating in the USA as Verbal Judo, these seminars have been presented to front line employees in southern Africa since 1994 and have become a great favourite of all the clients that have commissioned our services.
Participants from all sections of the community have only praise for this training. A recurring observation from our many satisfied clients is the new confidence, demeanour and general enthusiasm demonstrated by seminar participants. Tactical Communication concepts have been battle tested by national, provincial and local government; generate voluntary compliancecasinos, universities, schools, wildlife conservation and the private security industry, not to mention the many parents who have also benefitted from our services.
The goal of front line personnel is to “generate voluntary compliance” and in this regard Tactical Communication teaches practical skills appropriate to service delivery, based on psychological concepts and accepted human relations norms.
